31 Jan 1/31/2014 Fishing Report and Forecast
January has been a very productive month. The key to success has been fishing between cold fronts and as always picking the right tides. Dodging the rain storms has also been a little tricky. For the hard core fishermen they go when they can,it almost any conditions. For others I have had to reschedule there outings so they could fish in more comfortable setting. Either way Tampa Bay Fishing Charters have been productive ones.
Cobia,Pompano,Silver Trout, Sheepshead ,Spotted Sea Trout and Sharks have been on the list of whats biting. For winter time fishing it is a very good variety.
Cobia,Pompano and Sharks are being caught at the warm water outflow of our local Power Plant. These fish like to seek refuge there from the cold water of Tampa Bay. Silver Trout, Redfish and Spotted Sea Trout are a bit more cold tolerant and will be caught in other areas. Having different areas to fish this time of year is key. We get some very windy days and depending on the direction that the wind is blowing some areas are just not very comfortable to fish. Fortunately we can adapt to the conditions and get our customers out on the water for a fun fishing experience.
As we get into the month of February I really expect much of the same type of fishing. I can only hope that the fronts moving through our area will be less frequent. This time of year its really a take what you can get situation. If the winter fishing stays the way it has been I will take it.
Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing Charters is available for charters 7 days a week. If you want to get your winter fishing fix just give us a call!
