Amazing April 2019

What an amazing April it has been for fishing. At times the conditions haven’t been the best but fishing spots I don’t often fish has paid off for my customers.
Bait has still been a little difficult to catch. My day starts early getting ready for your charter. Most times long before you have awoken and even had your first cup of morning coffee I have already been out on the water working at securing the bait for the day. This time of year having the proper bait can be crucial to having a productive fishing trip. It hasn’t been easy. Most mornings I have been in the boat long before the crack of dawn to make a 50 mile round trip just to catch bait. At times the conditions have been less than perfect with the windy weather we have been having. By the time I have pulled up to the dock to pick up my customers I have most likely spent a minimum of four hours already just catching bait for the charter.
Having that bait has paid off for my customers. This month we have caught a variety of fish and some really nice ones at that.
Snook fishing has been very good. They are really hungry and feeding well. Trout have been biting but its been a little tough to get on a steady consistent bite when it comes to trout fishing. We have been catching a few Redfish in the upper 30 inch size. Spanish Mackerel have been on fire. By far this has been the most consistent fishing. We are catching a variety of species all while mackerel fishing. Sea Bass,Grouper and Trout have all been in the mix along with the lady fish (aka poor mans Tarpon). Big Jacks are also on the prowl. We run across these schools of bruisers and boy what a fight they put up!

Here are a few pictures from April Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing Charters.

I had the rare opportunity to get out and fish with my wife this month. The King Mackerel have been off the beach in our Gulf waters so I decided to take advantage of a nice spring day and do a little catching myself. We loaded up with bait and headed out about seven miles to a feeding frenzy. We were able to put a couple nice Kings in the box and release several other searly that morning before the fleet of boats showed up to the area we were fishing. We had our fun then moved on and did some relaxing sight seeing.

It has been an amazing April for fishing. Take advantage of it as we move into May it should be another amazing month. Book your charter in advance so you can secure the best dates.
