23 May Fishing Charters in Tampa Bay

The fishing charters in Tampa Bay this past couple of months has been with mixed results. My guest have been catching a variety of fish. Some Snook,Trout, Spanish Mackerel and others have been making up the majority of fish caught.
Live bait on light tackle rigs has been key. The water clarity has been abnormally good for this time of year due to the lack of rain. We have stated to get some rain in the past week so hopefully this will help keep water temps down and make the water less clear. I know you are probably thinking why would you want the water to not be clear? Well in short fish have great vision. when the water is clear it is much easier for them to see the line and hook in the water causing them to shy away from it. In turn we get less bites.
Good news is clean water is great for Trout and Mackerel fishing. The Mackerel bite has been on fire with some fairly good size ones coming to the boat.
Trout fishing has slowed a bit with rising water temps but we are still catching a few.
Fishing isn’t always easy but we try to make it fun on our Fishing Charters in Tampa Bay.
