Tampa Bay Redfish
Red Drum, aka Redfish, are one of the staples here in Tampa Bay. This species is one of the many who utilizes Tampa Bay’s estuary system for breeding through adulthood. In this, this is a year-round species that offers anglers all day excitement and drag screaming runs.
Redfish will readily eat live, dead, and artificial baits. They can be found lurking the grass flats, mangrove systems, oyster bars, and in structure. These fish also do not shy away from eating when the temperatures are low in the winter months. Of course, they are a summer favorite as well.
For sight-fisherman, it is the “pushes” and “tailing” that these fish do in the shallow water flats that makes them a favorite. Stalking these fish in shallow water can make for an epic day and lifelong memory.
