25 May Fishing Report April/May
We have been fishing and most importantly we have been catching! In this Fishing Report I will be catching you up to date on what was happening in April and May and what we can expect to be catching in June.
It been a windy time these past couple of months. Typically I would be doing more Tampa Bay reef fishing charters but with the winds we had I only had a few opportunity’s. Most of our charters were catch and release fishing for Snook, Redfish and Trout. We had some great catches with some large Redfish and Snook coming to the boat.
On the very few reef fishing trips we got in customers bagged some nice fish and were able to take some home for dinner.
June 1st things will change with the opening of Redfish and Trout. Some new rules have been put into effect concerning these species.
Redfish is a one fish per person as it has been in the past. (There is also a size limit of 18 to 27 inches)
Trout has new limitations in place. Bag limit is 3 per person. (size limit 15 to 19 inches)
The captain will not be allowed to keep his bag limit on any paid charters!
These regulations are per the Florida Fish and Wildlife.
June should be a stellar month for reef fishing inside Tampa Bay. Grouper season will be open so anglers will have there shot at catching the prized Gag Grouper for the dinner table. The Snapper bite should be on fire. There will still be plenty of Spanish Mackerel here.
Shark fishing will really heat up!
The summer months are some of the most productive fishing months all year. Come enjoy some time on the water and have some drag ripping action!
Here are some of our catches from April and May.
