18 Feb Fishing Report Mid February 2015
Its about mid month of February and fishing conditions have made things challenging. Our fishing charters Tampa have consisted mostly of fishing the backwater creeks and canals. Finding cover on the windy cold days has been part of the key. The drop in Tampa Bays water temperature has slowed the fish that in turn has caused us to slow our presentation of the bait. A live shrimp either drifted in the current of the creeks or crawled slowly across the bottom has produced the best bite.
Other options for fishing include changing locations and working the spoil islands of the Clearwater inter-coastal waterway. A live shrimp free lined around the islands deeper edges will produce some keeper sized trout. You can also use soft plastic jigs worked slowly to get the bite. Some customers like the challenge of fishing the residential docks. This is a great way to produce some nice Sheephead for the dinner table and also test your skills. Live shrimp on a Jig head placed properly under the docks will catch the bigger ones.
