04 Apr Fishing Tampa April/2016
Fishing Tampa in April has to be one of the most productive times of the year. On the right tides we are catching Snook,Redfish,Trout,Spanish Mackerel and have possible shots at other species such as Cobia,Black Drum and even Tarpon.
On recent Fishing Tampa charters in March we had some very productive days. On the high incoming and out going tides we have been able to target large schools of Redfish. Live bait presented under a float and even free lined worked well to get hooked up on these fish. At times all anglers rods would be bent giving us multiple fish landed. It could be pure chaos at times!
The Snook fishing has also been outstanding. The larger fish are moving out for the most part to the mouths of creeks, and rivers. Smaller Snook still remain and we have been catching a large amount of Snook in the 20 to 25 inch range. We do have our days we get that one big one. We have been targeting Snook on both live and fresh cut dead bait.
Trout fishing has also remained good. We were fishing the creeks and canals for them but Trout are also moving as the water temps rise to there spring haunts. Targeting them in deeper water has been the most productive. Now that the sardines have shown up on area flats they are the bait of choice. Most have been in the keeper size range for those who want a few for dinner.
April is a great month to get out and go fishing Tampa. We experience mild temperatures this time of year and the fish are biting!
