06 Dec Is it Spring time? Dec 2014 report
Is it spring time? I cant tell. The weather here in the Tampa Bay area has just been beautiful. Beautiful weather this time of year translate to some of the best Tampa Bay Fishing Charters! Lows in the 60s and highs in the mid to high 70s and low humidity has made for some great fishing days. I will admit it has throw me off a bit as I was expecting a different weather pattern. No worries, I will take what was thrown at me.
For those who know where to look bait has been fairly easy to catch. We have been using a mix of live Shrimp( bait store bought) and Scaled Sardines that we have been catching before each charter.
The Snook and Trout bite has been phenomenal! Our customers have been catching close to and over 100 fish on many of our trips. Just imagine limiting out on some nice fat Spotted Sea trout for dinner first thing in the morning then making another stop for a mix of Snook and Big Trout catch and release action! This is what our customers have been experiencing for the last few weeks.
That isn’t all that has been going on. For a short period our water temps dropped and it turned the bite on at the power plant warm water out flow. It was only for a few days but I took the opportunity to make the best of it. Jack Carvalle was the most abundant species found there along with some Pompano that make awesome table fare. My customers were also lucky enough to land the first Cobia of our fall/winter season in the 12 lb range. I am looking forward to our cooler temperatures again so the fish will move back in there. The power plant can be a great place to keep the rods bent!
Right now is some of the best fishing of all year! The weather is just absolutely beautiful and the fish are chewing! The weather will change once again and so will the fishing. We should be in for a great winter of rod bending action!
