09 May Tampa Bay offers some of the best fishing!
Tampa Bay offers some of the best fishing in our state. With a large bay and the largest salt water estuary in the state of Florida what more could you ask for? The opportunity’s are almost endless. Tampa Bay has some of the most pristine grass flats and Mangrove lined shores to act as a nursery for its abundant fisheries. We are also fortunate enough to have many man made reef systems and hard bottom areas that make Tampa Bay a very fertile fishing destination.
The list of species of fish that can be caught inside of our bay is almost endless. Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Trout,Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder,Bluefish are just a few of the species that may be caught on a Tampa Bay fishing charter.
As we start getting into our summer months the fishing will change a bit and we will start focusing more on reef and hard bottom fishing. We will still fish for Snook and Redfish around the flats and mangrove shores. Tarpon will be available to get a shot at also. Sharks are going to move into Tampa Bay. Shark fishing can be very exciting. You never know what species of shark you may hook. We have several different species that roam our waters this time of year. Bulls, Spinners,Black Tips and Hammer Heads are common. Watch my reports coming up and you should see a few pictures of these beast.
May has started off pretty good even though we have had an unexpected front move through the area for this time of year. Can someone please shut the fan off! Yes the wind has been blowing, but I expect we should be seeing more stable weather as we progress into this month.
Our Spanish Mackerel have turned on and we have been catching some in the 4 and 5 pound range. These fish will peel some drag and put anglers to the test. The Snook and Redfish bite has been good. Anglers have been catching some Redfish in the 10 to 12 pound range. The trout fishing has remained steady and a few of my customers have been taking some home to eat. Its just about time for the Mangrove Snapper to really start biting. On the last couple of trips we have caught a few and they have been nice size ones. Perfect for the dinner table. I will be focusing more on those fish as summer progresses.
I hope you have a great summer and your lines stay tight. If you would like to book a Tampa Bay Fishing Charter email or call me.
