02 Jun Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing
Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing has been a lot of fun with some nice catches the past couple of months. Ive been fairly busy and got a little behind in posting my fishing reports so its time to do a little catching up.
The Snook bite was in full swing this past month or so. We were catching 15 to 20 of them on our trips along the mangrove shorelines of the flats. Live sardines for bait had been the ticket. Along with the Snook we had been catching some very nice drag pulling Redfish that cold be found cruising the shorelines.
The Speckled Sea Trout bite has been outstanding! Trout in the 16 to 19 inch range have been caught. These have been the perfect size for some of my customers who chose to take a few home for a meal.
In the open waters of the bay Spanish Mackerel can be found. This are a great fight and can also be a great meal for those who choose to keep a few. Mangrove Snapper fishing is also in full swing. Summer time is the right time to target these on the Tampa Bay reefs and channel edges. Fishing structure in deeper water is part of the key to catching these tasty fish.
There have been some Cobia around and we have hooked a few but sometimes luck just isn’t on your side with these fish. The battle isn’t always won.
Jack Cravelle were the name of the game on a few trips. These fish are one of the hardest fighting fish in Tampa Bay. I haven’t met an angler yet that doesn’t enjoy fighting one of these.
Summer time is here. Nows the time to book a Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing charter. Get out and enjoy a day of fishing with the family.
